  • Founder

    Clifford Lau, the mind behind The Test Tutor, is a trailblazer in the field of education. With his visionary leadership, Clifford has successfully guided thousands of students towards achieving their academic goals. His unwavering commitment to providing high-quality tutoring services is what sets The Test Tutor apart from others. While Clifford is certainly passionate about his work, his other passion is fishing. If he’s not tutoring, he’s probably out fishing!

  • Formerly one of the highest level SAT and ACT tutors for The Princeton Review, Tom has helped increase the scores of thousands of students in Southern California over the last 20+ years. Tom combines his years of experience, dedication, and expertise to produce results in all types of situations. Tom was also a certified master trainer for The Princeton Review and has trained hundreds of SAT, ACT, and GRE teachers around the country. Before that, Tom graduated University of California, Santa Barbara with Highest Honors (Summa Cum Laude) and earned his Masters degree in Social Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. In his free time, Tom is working towards his second black belt in martial arts with his son, Luke.

  • A native of Newport Beach, California, Scott attended Mater Dei High School, where he played baseball for four years. He scored a 2300 on his SAT. Scott then attended the University of Southern California on Merit Scholarship. An avid traveler, Scott studied abroad at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand in the spring of his junior year. He has visited 23 countries in the last five years. Scott graduated USC with a degree in Business Management from the Marshall Business School, but discovered that his passion lies in education. Scott is an excellent writer currently working on his first novel. He dreams of being a creative writing professor. He is a graduate of the MFA writing program at Columbia University. Scott guides our students to develop strong writing skills and a deep appreciation for literature. His creativity and ability to connect with students make him an invaluable member of our team. When he’s not tutoring, Scott can most likely be found rock climbing, skiing, or eating great food.

  • Robert Lee leverages a rigorous background in economic analysis and institutional finance to help students master the ACT. A 2021 graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Robert sharpened his analytical precision as an Investment Operations Analyst at BlackRock and a Senior Consultant at Northern Trust. Today, he translates that high-level expertise into personalized tutoring, empowering students to navigate complex testing landscapes with confidence and clarity.

  • Jen acts as the heartbeat of our daily operations, combining administrative precision with a welcoming atmosphere. With a background of over 20 years in K–8 classrooms—plus experience in HR and accounting—she brings a comprehensive understanding of student development and operational systems. Jen also offers a relatable perspective, having guided her own children through the college admissions process. This blend of professional expertise and personal empathy makes her an invaluable resource. Outside the office, Jen enjoys traveling, word games, and spending time with family.
